Die neuen WhatsApp Communities Features im Überblick

Im Sommer 2022 launchte Meta für WhatsApp nach vielen Tests erstmals die Communities und kündigte für diesen Gruppenbereich an, was kommen sollte: „A major evolution of WhatsApp“. Kurz darauf kündigte der Konzern an, die Communities auch für WhatsApp Business bereitzustellen. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg hatte schon im April 2022 erklärt:

With today’s launch, we’re […] enabling people to not only communicate with close friends and contacts, but also with all of the different communities in your life. This might be a school community with chats where important announcements for parents are shared and discussed, or a work community with chats to discuss different things with colleagues, or a neighborhood community to talk about what’s happening on your street or in your building. A lot of people tell us they want to use WhatsApp for this since it’s the quickest way to stay in touch with people, but until now the product hasn’t been built in a way that makes this easy.

Um im Rahmen einer Community schnell und einfach ein Event planen zu können, hat WhatsApp eine entsprechende Funktion für die User bereitgestellt. So können fortan alle Mitglieder einer Community ein Event erstellen. Das Unternehmen erklärt auf dem Blog:

[…] Anyone can create an event that others can respond to, so the whole group knows who is coming. Guests can also find the event in the group’s information page, and those going will get a notification when the event is getting close. Events are coming to groups that belong to a Community first, and will roll out to all groups over the coming months. 

Darüber hinaus erhalten die Administrator:innen von Communities die Option, in den sogenannten Ankündigungsgruppen Replies zu ihren Ankündigungen zu erhalten.

Auf diese Weise wird ihnen Feedback ausgeliefert. Diese Replies werden von Meta jedoch minimiert dargestellt und dann thematisch zusammengefasst, sodass die Administrator:innen schnell eine sinnvolle Übersicht erhalten. Diese Updates werden in den kommenden Wochen und Monaten ausgerollt und sollen die Experience der Communities User verbessern. Mithilfe dieser neuen Funktionen bietet WhatsApp einen weiteren Kanal zur unkomplizierten Event-Planung, ob privat oder im Unternehmen.
