PayPal übernimmt Krypto-Startup Curv

Für mutmaßlich 200 Millionen US-Dollar kaufte PayPal nun das aus Israel stammende Startup Curve. Dieses hat sich auf die Verwaltung von Krypotwährungen und -sicherheit spezialisiert. Die Übernahme des Unternehmens zeigt deutlich, dass der Online-Bezahldienst die Integration von digitalen Bezahlmitteln künftig weiter vorantreiben möchte. Jose Fernandez da Ponte, Vice President und General Manager, Blockchain, Crypto und Digital Currencies bei PayPal, kommentierte die Übernahme:

The acquisition of Curv is part of our effort to invest in the talent and technology to realize our vision for a more inclusive financial system. During our conversations with Curv’s team, we’ve been impressed by their technical talent, entrepreneurial spirit, and the thinking behind the technology they’ve built in the last few years. We’re excited to welcome the Curv team to PayPal.

Curv wurde 2018 von Itay Malinger und Dan Yadlin gegründet. Beide sind heute noch als CEO und CTO beim Unternehmen tätig. Malinger sagte zu der PayPal-Übernahme:

Die Übernahme soll noch in der ersten Hälfte des Jahres 2021 abgeschlossen werden.
