Datenschutzbehörde verabschiedet ersten Code of Conduct für Europa

Ein sicherer Umgang mit sensiblen Daten – das ist das Ziel, das hinter dem Code of Conduct (dt. Verhaltenskodex) steht, der nun von der belgischen Datenschutzbehörde für ganz Europa verabschiedet wurde. In der Bekanntgabe heißt es:

The EU Cloud CoC aims to establish good data protection practices for cloud service providers and will contribute to a better protection of personal data processed in the cloud in Europe.

Konkreter handelt es sich dabei um eine Erweiterung des Artikels 28 der DSGVO. Die neuen Regelungen legen fest, wie mit User-Daten, die in einer Cloud abgespeichert sind, umgegangen werden darf. David Stevens, Chairman der belgischen Datenschutzbehörde, erklärt:

The approval of the EU Cloud CoC was achieved through narrow collaboration within the European Data Protection Board and is an important step towards a harmonised interpretation and application of the GDPR in a crucial sector for the digital economy. I hope that this first experience in approving a European code of conduct will mark the beginning of the development of more European codes of conduct to foster compliance for companies, harmonisation for sectoral organizations and transparency for data subjects.

Für welchen Artikel der DSGVO als nächstes ein Code of Conduct eingeführt werden könnte, ist bis dato nicht bekannt.
